A new mixed-use development on the way in West Dallas will bring a combination of apartments, retail and office space.

Two Austin companies — Good + West Residential and Cypress Real Estate Advisors — are building the project at West Commerce Street and Beckley just across the Trinity River from downtown Dallas.

The West Commerce Gateway project will include 308 apartments, 12,700 square feet of restaurant and retail space and seven small offices, said David West, partner at Good + West Residential.

"This is an exciting area that continues to grow rapidly, and we are looking forward to delivering a well-designed, thoughtful project that is a positive addition to the neighborhood," West said.

The project was designed by Dallas architect GFF Architects, and the general contractor is Oden Hughes Taylor.

West said the first apartments in the development will be ready at the end of next year.

The Commerce Street development is just one of several new apartment and retail projects on the way in West Dallas.

Good + West Residential and Cypress Real Estate Advisors are doing other North Texas projects, too.

The partners are building a 300-unit, four-story apartment project on the former site of the Credit Union of Texas at 4600 Ross Ave. just east of downtown.
